Greetings

Above all, I am a reader. Books have been my lifelong companions, their pages turning well before I can recall learning the sounds of letters from a teacher. For as long as I can remember, I’ve woven books, plays, and stories in my mind, often scripting the next line before an actor on screen can speak it. When midlife brought personal struggles, I turned to writing as a refuge and a form of self-therapy. Welcome. I hope you find something to enjoy in my words.

How it all began....

On a gray, misty morning, I felt a subtle shift within me. Small frustrations gnawed at me, leading to sharp words with my husband that didn’t feel like me. My energy waned, my skin dulled, my hair lost its vibrancy, and my desire faded. I felt like a stranger in my own body. One day, pen in hand, I poured out my doubts about life, fears of inevitable changes, and the ripples they’d send through my world and those I loved. My soul whispered of a life I might have lived, full of forgotten desires. As I wrote, the divide between my younger self and my middle-aged self blurred, and through writing, I began to rediscover my needs and purpose. In the pages of my story, I found myself again.

I’ve been an entrepreneur my whole life. My first venture was a natural cosmetics and skincare company co-founded with my sister. I juggled formulation, bookkeeping, web design, label creation, sales, and even makeovers—an exhilarating ride. Craving new horizons, I left the company to my sister and pivoted to accounting. Ironically, bookkeeping, my least favorite task as a business owner, became a passion. Mastering the numbers unlocked the secret to thriving businesses. Later, I found my calling in interior design, creating remodels for the residential construction company I co-founded with my husband, my lifelong love. My knack for numbers proved invaluable in estimating and managing the business. We retired the company in 2024 and now live on our three-acre farm on Western Washington’s coast. Tending to the garden, chickens, turkeys, goats, and pigs sparks my imagination, weaving stories in my mind. Writing became my refuge, helping me navigate my midlife crisis on paper, sparing my marriage.
